I love wearing maxi dresses and they are so comfortable during pregnancy. The color and crochet detail of this dress are what made me want to try it on. I’m wearing my usual size of XS. I did try on a small, but felt like the top chest area was just extra bulky and baggy with the baby bump.
It’s been too long since I did an outfit post. I was barely back into post-Jamaica reality when we had sweet friends from Austin come stay with us for three days. It was so nice to visit and have some fun with them, almost as if we were still in vacation mode. We are still trying to find our summer “routine” and my photographer (a.k.a. my husband) has been staying extra busy with work. Hopefully I’m back on track now and will be able to blog frequently. Since I have been off the radar too much, I thought now would be a good time to recap the latest baby news.
Baby Update: With less than 50 days until my due date, I am counting them down! My last update with about two months ago and you can read it here. I had my glucose test and anemic test done at the end of April. Both were a finger prick (easy!) and, shockingly, I passed both. I wasn’t worried about gestational diabetes since I’ve never had that and it doesn’t run in my family. I am typically anemic during pregnancy though so I was happy to hear that I’m not with this one. At this point, all of my appointments are simple, quick, and routine. I’m in and out within 30 minutes and baby girl is growing right on track.
Morning Sickness: 99% of the time, I don’t feel sickly and I am thankful for that. I remember the morning sickness coming back in the third trimester almost as bad as the first trimester with my last baby.
Eating Habits: I’m starting to feel hungry more frequently again. I don’t eat at much at each meal since my stomach space is being invaded. If I don’t eat when I started feeling hungry, I quickly start feeling sick.
Energy: I think I have decent energy. I move much slower at times, but I’m not always tired like I was the first half of this pregnancy. However, I am glad that school is out so no more alarm clock and our days are as busy or laid back as we want them to be.
Exercise: Wellll….this has been put on hold. When I was so sick for a month, I wasn’t able to go to the gym. Then it became easy to find other things to do. Then none of my gym clothes fit and I didn’t bother finding ones that would. And then so much time had past, I gave in to the lazy and just look forward to getting back into shape when I will actually be able to see the changes and hard work paying off.
Sleeping Habits: Some nights are just fine, other nights are miserable. Acid reflux kicked in not long after I entered the third trimester. Insomnia has also hit a few times leaving me wide awake for hours during the middle of the night. Rotating from one side to the other takes work and I almost always get up at least once for the bathroom.
Clothing: The struggle is real. You might have guessed with the absence of outfit posts recently. Things with a waist-band are becoming less and less of an option. Even maternity items. It’s simply not comfortable. Dresses are my friend when I’m out of the house, but you can bet I put on the drawstring pants and a t-shirt whenever I’m home for the day. It’s also starting to heat up here in north Texas, so that doesn’t help.
Braxton Hicks: I’ve had them off and on, maybe one day a week, for several weeks now. In the past 10 days, they have become daily, stronger, and sometimes accompanied with cramping. That’s when I know I’ve been on my feet too long and need to take it easy. So I do. She is not “engaged” yet, so no worries about any of these things causing pre-term labor.
Baby Movement: All. Day. Long. She is one very active baby and I have a love/hate relationship with that. I love that it’s a great sign she is doing well, but I hate the discomfort it gives me most of the day. She is posterior so I feel all of her kicks, and punches, and stretches. She is, and has been, head down though, so I’m thankful for that. She still has time to get into the correct position optimal for birth, so no one is concerned. I’m just feeling like a punching bag on the inside.
Her Name: We are still working on a middle name, but don’t plan to publicly share her name until her birth. I know, I know…drives people crazy. Not much longer though!
This pregnancy has been the longest of all four pregnancies, for me. I’m so excited to meet her, hold her, and be a family of six. All of the kids seem to be getting more and more excited about the arrival of their baby sister. They talk about her much more and hug my belly more often. I still don’t have all of the baby items that I plan to buy for her, but her wardrobe is looking good!
Thank you so much for reading! Hope you have a great day.
