I was finally able to go out for a maternity photo shoot the week before last. Between vacation, rainy weather, and my photographer’s schedule, I put this day off longer than intended. When I started searching for the perfect maternity dress for my photo session, I knew I wanted something elegant and feminine. Lace says just that, to me. The blush color of this dress was also perfect for a girly, but not a full-of-pink look. I bought this dress as the website size chart directed, sticking with my usual pre-pregnancy size and I was happy with the fit.
Typically, I have maternity photos taken closer to 30 weeks, but these were done several weeks later. Which means my belly was that much bigger, I was that much more uncomfortable, and the Texas summer heat was that much hotter. In fact, I think we were out on the hottest day to date for the summer. The things a pregnant woman will do for a chance of feeling extra pretty and to capture a stage of life that is so short in the grand scheme of things.
With water, snacks, and flip flops (for all of the walking) on hand, we got started mid-morning. I was doing good for the first 30 minutes, in the shade with a nice breeze. As time ticked on, the humidity was on the rise. After an hour or so, we decided to take a break at a little cafe for ice cold drinks before finishing up for the day. Despite the heat and humidity, my photographer made sure to get great photos and we didn’t completely melt.
My photographer, a family friend since before I was born, did such an amazing job! Don’t you agree? I am so happy with the photos and very thankful for his talent and time. With this being my last pregnancy, maternity photos are something that I will no doubt cherish for a lifetime. If you’re pregnant, I would highly suggest investing in quality maternity photos via a professional photographer. Find someone who you can be comfortable around and who listens to what you like or dislike.
As I get closer to my due date, the state of my comfort diminishes and I count down the days until I will be meeting this little baby. Having these photos will be a great reminder of how blessed I have been to be pregnant. How incredible, even if not always enjoyable, it is to experience my body changing and accommodating for this little life growing on the inside. What a miraculous design and gift God has given!
