When I started thinking about Cora’s first birthday party, I knew I wanted something with pinks and gold, and for it to be soft and simple, yet girly. I searched for theme ideas, but didn’t see anything I loved.
Typically, for first birthday parties, I like to do something revolving around what that child loves, since they can’t exactly voice their likes and dislikes. For Savannah, we did a rubber duck theme because she loved bath time. Hudson’s 1st birthday party was a ball theme, and for Maddox we did a music theme.
By Cora’s first birthday, I would say her top favorites things were books and her stuffed bunny. I bought this bunny for her before she was born and used it almost immediately as something for her to snuggle with when she was in her crib for naps and bedtime. She knows just what we are talking about when we say “where is bunny?” and gets so excited to have it.
And that’s how the theme of “It’s Some Bunny’s Birthday” came to be.
Once I decided on the theme, I was so excited because I knew it was perfect for Cora. Then I realized that most bunny related items would have been much easier to find in the spring, rather than mid-summer. I wanted enough bunny items to pull the theme together, but without it looking like an Easter party.
I started with finding an invitation that fit the criteria for the feel I wanted the party to have and then I planned the party and all the details around the invitation. Everything from the color scheme, to the balloon feature, to the cake and cookie details stemmed from this invitation.
We had croissant sandwiches, veggies, veggie straws for the kids, and fruit for the meal.
Everything came together just as I had hoped it would and I was so thankful for my husband and a few family members who helped make it all possible. We enjoyed celebrating with family and a some close friends who love Cora so much. Cora took a late morning nap and was getting tired just before the party started. Staying true to being the ‘happiest baby ever’, she skipped her second nap that day and remained happy with all of the excitement for and around her.
I’m so thankful for this baby girl and all that she means to our family! It has been the best year with her in our world. God has truly blessed us and I am soaking up all the little things. See our pregnancy announcement of Cora here and the gender reveal here. I shared her birth story here.
