This simple top caught my eye because of the color. A pretty yellow just makes me think of spring and summer. I love the pinstripe detail and the additional touch of the slightly gathered sleeves for a bell look. These shoes are such a great style for the season and super comfortable. This tan color was on this post, along with a few other of my favorites, and they come in two other colors. The block heel is perfect for the extra height while still being easy to walk in.
Yesterday was my birthday and I enjoyed spending the day with my family. My husband took me out to dinner at one of my favorite steak houses on Saturday night and let me sleep in on Sunday. The kids all woke me up by singing “Happy Birthday”, bearing gifts, homemade cards, and even brought me breakfast in bed. It was all so sweet and I just love how thoughtful they are.
The day still included cleaning, taking care of the baby, tending to lots of needs/wants of kids, and laundry. Savannah, my 7 year-old, was very concerned with what I wanted to DO for my birthday, but when I replied with “Let’s all take a nice long nap together”, she didn’t think that was such a good birthday request. Maddox, my 3 year old, didn’t like that it wasn’t HIS birthday, but once he got over that initial disappointment, he wanted to be the one to do all the special things for me since it was my birthday. Mom life truly is the best life!
Cora turned 9 months old on Friday, April 28th and this was another hard month on me. Nine months, already?! At my birthday dinner on Saturday night, there was a couple at the table next to us with a tiny baby girl, who I later found out was just 8 weeks old. The mom and dad (who also had their parents with them) took turns throughout the mealtime to walk the crying baby around, to feed her, or to hold her while she briefly slept. As I watched them, I thought how quickly that time goes by. How it already feels like forever ago that my sweet Cora was that little and we were the ones alternating getting to eat. They sure do grow up fast… too fast! Here I am missing those moments of Cora being tiny and simultaneously in the beginning thoughts of her first birthday while trying to savor every second of her as a baby.
Here an update on what things are like at 9 months old:
Eating: I’ve done all I can to boost my milk supply and nothing has worked. So, I’m sad to find myself coming to the end of nursing, not just her, but altogether. She’s drinking raw goats milk and doing great. She seems to be having a longer stretch between feedings, but drinking more at each one. She loves, loves, loves real food! She wants to eat any and everything. A few new things lately have been yogurt, waffles, cucumbers, kiwi, pears, hamburgers, black beans, and broccoli. It is so fun to watch her eat new things and she her really enjoy eating.
Sleeping: We’ve moved her bedtime up to 7:30/8 because she was starting to fight sleep and we knew she was tired. Since moving her bedtime up, she goes to bed super easy after drinking her milk and having her bunny to snuggle. A typical night is about 12 hours of sleep for her. Naps have stayed the same with her going down around 10/10:30 until noon and then down again from 2:30-4/4:30. I sure am thankful for an easy and peaceful sleeper!
Stats: She weighs 19 pounds, 4 ounces (69th percentile) and is just 2 ounces shy of how much her big sister weighed at ONE YEAR! She feels so chunky to me. She’s wearing size 9-12 month clothing. Most people comment that she looks tall/big for her age, so I measured her and she’s 28″ long which is only the 66th percentile.
Milestones: The biggest thing, which has occurred in just the past few days, is her first word: “momma”! After weeks of repeating it to her, she is really saying it on several occasions. She also likes waving her hand (up and down, as if saying ‘bye’), but I’m not sure she’s doing it on purpose just yet. She is pulling up to stand on anything and everything. This is her favorite thing to do, no doubt. She is also starting to give (open-mouth) kisses. She has done that a number of times, but I’m not sure how much of “give kisses” she actually understands.
I continue to be so thankful that she is the answer to so many prayers and for how easy and happy is always is.
Thank you for reading and I hope your week gets off to a great start!
