This boy of mine turned six years old at the end of May. We celebrated his birthday with a dinosaur theme party a few days prior to his actual birthday. He started requesting this theme as soon as his Lego themed party was over last year.
I wasn’t sure exactly what to do for this party, but I knew we would just be having it at our house. It was two days after school got out (for us) and only three days before we left for a week in Jamaica. Plus, being 7 months pregnant, I didn’t have the energy to do a ton. I watched the weather forecast in hopes that it could at least be an outdoor party. It had been a rainy week with cooler temperatures, but as the party day approached, it was looking like we would have a warm and sunny day!
On the week of the party, I scoured Pinterest for decor ideas and then to get everything needed. Hudson’s one request was that there be a volcano and dinosaurs on the food table. I talked my sweet sister into crafting the awesome volcano background for me because she is way more crafty than I am. Didn’t she (and my mom) do an awesome job!? Just a few days before the party, when confident in what the weather would be like, I rented a big water slide. We also heated the pool for extra fun.
The weather turned out perfect, sweet friends had so much water fun, and we surprised them all with a big T-Rex visitor. A friend of mine let me borrow the costume and one of my brothers humored us by playing the part. Hudson was thrilled with everything! It was a fun party to plan and I loved seeing that smile on his face, non-stop, for hours.
